Serafino – Ronald R., 80, on May 14, 2017.
Ron was an outgoing, larger than life kind of guy who had a personality that could easily fill a room. He was devoted to his family to which he gave his all; his kindness, his support and his love.
As a young man, he was befriended by Jimmy Durante and became his personal valet, allowing him to see the country and meet many different personalities for over 10 years. The show biz ladies he met along the way, awarded him the “Best Zipper Upper” trophy, for helping them zip up in the dressing rooms. A man with a good work ethic,
Ron was a well liked personality in many area restaurants, including Palumbo’s, Nostalgia and Dante & Luigi’s. He also enjoyed working the Rota Lot at Broad and Wolf, endearing himself to the staff and customers of that local 7-Eleven.
Ron loved being outdoors, whether it be spending time at the family shore home in Atlantic City or feeding the squirrels. Things that Ron loved were satisfying his sweet tooth (usually by Mr. Softee), his daily cocktail of Dewars, searching for John Wayne movies on cable and of course, spending time with (or calling) his beloved family.
He is the beloved companion of the late Connie Guercio; dear step father of Joseph Guercio (Randy) and the late James Guercio (surviving, Doris); dear brother of Kathleen Knecht (Raymond) and the late Camille (Minerva) Serafino and Albina Serafino; also survived by loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday 7-9 PM and Friday 8:30-9:30 AM in the Vincent Gangemi Funeral Home, Inc., 2232-40 S. Broad St. (at Wolf), Phila., Funeral Mass 10 AM Friday in The Church of the Epiphany of our Lord, 11th & Jackson Sts. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
