Rose M. (nee DiStanisloa), passed away suddenly on September 22, 2017. Beloved wife of Dr. Mark Twardzik. Loving daughter of the late Theresa and Oswald DiStanisloa. Devoted mother of Mark III (Laura), Jason (Lisa) and Matthew Twardzik. Loving grandmother of Mark IV. She is also survived by her loving sister Lorraine (Frank) Argenzio, devoted sister-in-law Mary DiStanisloa (wife of the late Ozzie), devoted brothers-in-law William Twardzik Esq., and Robert Twardzik. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and colleagues.
Rose was born and raised in South Philadelphia. She attended St. Monica’s Grade School (’66) and St. Maria Goretti High School (’70). She received her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Temple University. Rose began her lifelong passion for teaching in the Philadelphia School District at Bryant Elementary School in West Philadelphia. Rose met the love of her life at the Mummer’s Parade on New Year’s Day of 1972. Their 45-year loving journey together produced 3 beautiful sons. She retired from teaching to raise her family. After relocating to South Jersey, Rose resumed her teaching career in Special Education at her beloved Bells Elementary School. Up to the time of her sudden passing, Rose’s love and dedication to her students and colleagues were always on display. Rose was a devout Catholic and had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Her faith was the source of her joy and strength. Her family and friends will always remember her for her unconditional love, her beautiful smile, and her many acts of kindness which included her famous butter cookies. In Rose’s memory: plant a flower, read a book, and tell someone that you love them.
Relatives and friends are invited to Rose’s Visitation and Funeral Mass Friday morning 8:30 A.M. at the National Shrine of St. Rita of Cascia, 1166 S. Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19146. Funeral Mass to begin 10:00 A.M.
