Mr. Anthony Tesauro, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the VITAS Hospice Unit at Methodist Hospital. He was 91 years of age.
A 9th and Mountain neighborhood guy; Tony was an easy going, good natured life resident of South Philadelphia. He was a product of “The Greatest Generation” as he proudly served our country in the US Navy during World War Two. Tony would spend time at “the lakes” in FDR Park where he would read the paper and hang and chat with his favorite clique of guys. The staff at the Sands knew Tony by sight as he would try his luck 4-5 days a week on the slots in Atlantic City. Prior to retirement, he was employed building circuit breakers with the former ITE company and also worked as a roofer and even a butcher. A good day for Tony was when he was able to make it to the local store and buy some scratch off lottery tickets – it was a GREAT day when he won!
He is the beloved husband of the late Marie (nee Travaglia); devoted father of Valerie Canal (John) and Diane Cooney (Vince); loving grandfather of Lori, Richard and Christopher and special great grandfather of Christopher, Jr., Chase, Ava, Landon, Emma, Mia and the late Emily.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Wed. 7-9 PM and Thurs. 8:30-9:15 AM in the Vincent Gangemi Funeral Home, Inc., 2232-40 S. Broad St. (at Wolf). Funeral Mass Thurs. 10 AM St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, 9th and Morris Sts. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
