Obituary for Herbert L. Ocks

Herbert L., passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2018 at his home wiht his husband. Bob Zepp, by his side. He was . 89 years old, born in Philadelphia in September 1928. He received his B.A. from Temple University in 1949 and his Juris Doctor from Temple University School of Law in 1952.

Herb was a Philadelphia attorney for more than 65 years, in private practice and recently at Lundy Law. He continued working until just a few months ago, walking several miles each way to work. He was an experienced trial lawyer, handling all types of civil cases included vehicular accidents, medical malpractice, defective products and estates.

He served a special counsel to the Re-Development Authority and City of Philadelphia and represented the legal funds of many unions, such as Police (Local 5), Firefighter (Local 22), SEPTA (Local 234, Inquirer (Local 628), Laborers (Local 332), and Roofers (Local 30 A-B).

Herbs leaves a legacy of unparalleled caring for others. He was a generous man who helped countless people. Anyone who knew him, loved him. He was gentle soul, fiercely loyal to his loved ones, with an ever present twinkle in his eye - a joke always ready to brings a smile. Herb had a quick wit, a razor sharp mind and, a love for books and words, with reading and crossword puzzle among his favorite activities. Herb and Bob loved to travel and try their luck at casinos worldwide.

Four years ago, and after almost 40 years together, Herb married Bob Zepp. In addition to Bob, Herb is survived by a niece, Jacqueline (nee Ocks) Matusow, a great nephew Matthew Ocks, a great niece Robin Rubin, and a host of cousins and loving friends.
