Mrs. Viola M. Degen (nee Mastrogiovanni) passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2018 at Saint Monica Manor. She was 103 years of age and a life – long resident of South Philadelphia.

A quiet yet will-full woman, Viola was an accomplished homemaker, cook and a savvy business owner. It’s possible to say that her amazing work ethic, combined with and a glass of sherry every day, helped Viola reach the amazing age of 103 years. Viola was the well-known owner and stylist of Viola’s Beauty Salon at 15th and Wolf for over 55 years.

She is the wife of the late Folyaro; devoted mother of Patricia Degen (Beth); beloved daughter of the late Concetta (Nee Constantino) and Ernesto Mastrogiovanni; dear sister of the late Henry, Frank, Serafina, Mary, Lilly, Vera and Anne.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation 9:30 AM and Funeral Mass 10 AM Wednesday in Saint Monica Center’s Chapel, 2509 S. 4th St., 19148 Interment Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
