Life Story for Helen Marano

Mrs. Helen Marano (nee Murphy), a life-long resident of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2018. She was 77 years of age.

A strong, practical and independent woman, Helen was devoted to her family. Born in Philadelphia, she was raised in the 2nd Street neighborhood and called South Philadelphia her home her entire life. Helen was a student of the first graduating class of Saint Maria Goretti High School. In addition to being an amazing homemaker and mom, she was employed by Aetna Insurance Company as an administrative assistant. Helen had the opportunity to travel, and enjoyed many places such as countries in Europe. Helen’s sense of humor was a fun part of her personality; especially when it came to sneaking up and scaring her grand and great grandchildren. Spending $20. At the Nickle Poker Machine at Harrah’s, socializing at the Senior Center and spending time with her family were just a few things that Helen enjoyed.

She is the beloved wife of the late Alexander Marano; devoted mother of Marie Gregorio, Kathy Scarlata (Tom), Helene Marano and Elaine Maiorini (Leif); loving Gram of Desiree, Alexandra, Joseph, Eric, Jessica, Justin, Dominic and Madison and special Nan to Luke, Giselle and Adrian; dear sister of Patricia Dougherty, James Murphy and Edward Murphy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing 9-9:45 AM and Funeral Mass 10 AM Tuesday in Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 11th & Jackson Streets. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
