Obituary for Americo Colaianni

Mr. Americo “Ricky” Colaianni, a life-long resident of South Philadelphia, passed away peacefully at Kennedy Health System, Washington Township, NJ on Friday, February 22, 2019. He was 97 years of age.

Ricky was an outgoing, friendly man who loved life. A part of “The Greatest Generation”, he proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. Prior to retirement, Ricky worked with his brothers in the family business Colonial Salvage for many years.

He is the beloved husband of the late Anna (nee Loscalzo); devoted father of Carmella Giancaterino (Leonard) and Ernest Colaianni (Monica); loving grandpop of Christian Giancaterino (Kelly), Carly Corwonski (Steve), Ernest Colaianni (Kayla) and Brianna Colaianni (Jim Hertkorn) and special great grandpop of Christian and Caroline Giancaterino; also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate 97 great years by attending his viewing 9-9:45 AM and Funeral Mass 10 AM Wednesday in Stella Maris Church, 2901 S. 10th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19148.
