Betty Fortunato (nee Colantuono), age 89, beloved wife of the late Joe Fortunato passed away peacefully on February 26, 2021. She is survived by her daughters Betty (Debbie Fetzer), Arlene (Darcy Pfeifer), Lea (Rex Carney) and Lisa (Paul Dougherty). She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Betty was the matriarch of her large loving family and her greatest joy was time spent together especially at the Jersey shore. She considered her greatest achievement the fact that her 4 daughters not only love but like each other, and are each other’s best friends.
Betty was a woman who lived life on her own terms and passed her fierce will on to her daughters. She loved unconditionally and created the space for an extended family that was welcoming and inclusive of all including ex-partners/spouses, new and old friends. There was always room at her table. In addition to her daughters, Betty leaves her sister Eleanor DiJoseph and sister-in-law Mary Fortunato.
No services are planned. Her family will continue to celebrate her life and legacy by loving each other, laughing together and eating too much.
