Philomena "Phyllis" Marie Leone, 78, passed away on February 22, 2021, in Tampa, Florida. She was born to Gerardo and Madeline (Rowello) Leone and lived in Philadelphia where she grew up extremely close to her cousins Loretta and Diana. Phyllis was a member of the first graduating class of Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School in 1960, and in 1963 she married Frank D. Ruggeri with whom she had two sons. In 1980 she relocated with her family to Tampa, Florida, where she continued to raise her sons and became a real estate agent and broker, receiving several productivity awards throughout the years.
She was a faithful Catholic, a devoted mother, and enthusiastic animal lover. Blessed with a large and close-knit family, Phyllis cherished her time with them by vacationing, celebrating milestones, holidays, and hosting family meals. She was adored by her family and friends and loved sharing family experiences with everyone she knew.
Besides her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and Jerry Leone, and her ex-husband. She is survived by sons Frank (Anne), John Ruggeri, and granddaughter Francesca. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and deeply supportive friends in Tampa.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Tuesday morning, March 16th, 10:00 A.M to 10:45 A.M.at St Monica Church, 2422 South 17th St, ( at Ritner St.), Philadelphia, PA, 19145. Funeral Mass to begin 11:00 A.M. (The Mass will be webcast on our website within Philomena's listing) We encourage each attendee to respect all other mass attendees by following COVID health protection guidelines.
A graveside ceremony will follow the Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA.
