Obituary for Gilbert J. Evangelisto

Gilbert J Evangelisto Jr. 83 of Coopersburg PA, formerly of the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully May 17th, 2022. He was born in South Philadelphia and graduated from South Philadelphia High School (Southern). Gil served with the Philadelphia Police Department spending the majority of his tenure in the Accident Investigation Division (AID). He received his training for AID at Northwestern University Traffic Institute and served many years as Operation Supervisor and Instructor before retiring.

Gil served six years in the US Air Force Reserves as an Instrument Repair and Mechanical Accessories Airman with the 512th Troop Carrier Wing at Willow Grove Air Station. He reported to active duty at the outset of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Additionally, he was a member of Local 194 Sheet Metal and Sign Hangers Union, working as an installer and service man for Capital and Modern Sign Companies until retiring at age 70.

Gilbert is survived by his wife of over 59 years Barbara F. (Thompson) Evangelisto. Also survived by his children Frances K. Piller (John); James G. Evangelisto (Donna); Diane M. Burley (Fred); his grandchildren: Rachel Bettis (Cory); Kayla, Kyle and Connor Evangelisto; Michelle Clemente (Nick); Jessica Pollmeier (Ben) and Steven Burley (Tashana) and Five Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: Bill Evangelisto; Anthony (Carol) Evangelisto; Frank (Nancy) Evangelisto and James J. Evangelisto, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and Friends are invited to his Viewing and Funeral Tuesday morning, May 24th, 9:30 to 10:45 A.M. at Annunciation BVM Church, 10th and Dickinson Streets Philadelphia, PA 19147. Funeral Mass to begin 11:00 A.M.

Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery 626 Bailey Rd. Yeadon, PA 19050
