Day was a big part of my life when we were young. We met in Hegeman House in New York - I was 19 and Day was 20.
She worked at Chase Manhattan Bank whereas I was jobless and from England. Day always felt so grown up and wise. Hegeman House was an upmarket hostel for young ladies and we had a ball. After a year or so Day, Barbara and I moved into an apartment on 83rd and East End Avenue and our friendship grew. Daisy (Day), was the stabling influence on us Brits and she did her very best to steady us down with some success. I remember talking politics often well into the night something which continued when I visited Ronnie and Day last year in Florida 50 years later.

Alexandra F. Murray

Aunt Day was my personal knight in shining armor. She always stood up for everything that was right in the world. She rose the ranks of Continental bank and eventually became Vice President. This was something unheard of for a woman in the business world during those times. If anyone asked me what loyalty was I would say my Aunt day. She had a laugh that was infections and hard to get out of your head even when you weren't with her. I still hear it. She was highly intelligent, wise, witty, and a jokester. She would give her last of anything to someone if they needed it. Her sense of selflessness was known by everyone. So many Christmas's spent as a child filled with excitement, not for potential gifts but for the fact that we were with Aunt Day. She not only was an exceptional aunt to me, but very much so an exceptional great aunt to my three children. We all miss her so much.
