Leonard Cavaliere, Sr. passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, October 16, 2019.
“Lenny” is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Josephine (nee LoBiondo), devoted father of Marie Cavaliere, Leonora Colace (Vincent T., II), Joanne Berenato (Robert J., Jr.), Diane Cavaliere, Deborah Jenkins (Alan J.) and Leonard Jr. (Ginamarie); Loving grandfather of Maria Murray, John P. Murray, Janae Fiorelli (John), Lindsey Mulhern (John P.), Nicholas A. Jenkins, Richard A. Jenkins, Vincent T. Colace III, Robert J. Berenato, III, Frankiann Cavaliere and Christian J. Cavaliere and loving great grandfather of Nadia Hager, John A. Murray, Carly Hager, Luke A. Mulhern and Elianna Colace.

Leonard was born on February 16, 1930 and lived in Philadelphia his entire life. He was predeceased by his 5 siblings, Josephine Mezicco, Vincenza Lillie, Ferdinand Cavaliere, Albert Cavaliere and Concetta Valle. “Pop”, the long-time proprietor of “Josie’s Food Market” at 9th and Shunk in South Philadelphia, had a wonderful and strong work ethic, always holding 2 or more jobs simultaneously, until the ravages of Alzheimer’s disease prevented him from continuing. He was so proud of his large and loving family, loved music and always had a dance in his step and a song in his heart. His enthusiasm for life was unmatched and is shared by his offspring. Pop and his joie de vivre will be deeply and greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Sat. Morning, Oct. 19., 9:00 to 10:15 A.M. at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, 9th and Watkins Sts. Funeral Mass to begin 10:30 A.M. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Lenny’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at by clicking here
